B-Phot, Brussels Photonics Team, is a research group of  Vrije universiteit Brussel ( VUB) under the leadership of Prof. Hugo Thienpont.  B-Phot is one of the leading groups in the field of micro-photonics. B-Phot is active in  different research areas , such as  3-D projection and displays, functional lighting and solar energy , fiber sensors, biophotonics,  optical photonic interconnects, optical spectroscopy and  semiconductor micro-lasers. B-Phot is also coordinating the Photonics Explorer program that will equip science teachers at Europe’s secondary schools free-of-charge with up-to-date educational material to really engage, excite and educate students about the fascination of working with light.
